What Is Advocacy?


Deaf  advocacy means taking action to support Deaf people, to say what Deaf people want, protect their rights, stand for their interests and to insure they have access to services they need.
Advocacy promotes social inclusion, equality and social justice.


Why do we need an Advocacy service?


To ensure information is accessible and understood – preferably through Irish Sign Language (ISL).

Confidence in ISL by face to face consultations.


The service will support Deaf clients to fill out forms and assist with phone calls.


Respect the confidentiality and privacy of Deaf clients.


If you feel discriminated or unequal, we can give advice and information.


We’ll encourage you to stand up for yourself if you feel you have discriminated against
